RE: Your favorite travel books
I know Lonely Planet isn't too popular around here... haha
However, i recently picked up a book without even realising it was an LP publication until i got home! It is called 'Tales from Nowhere: Unexpected stories from unexpected places' and it was very, very good. It is an anthology of 30 different short stories from everywhere from Borneo to Kansas, Sri Lanka to Beijing. It is about the art of 'getting lost', whether it be physical or in the mind, but usualy both. It has some great insights from numerous authors. Great book.

KON TIKI
true story of crazy Norwegians building an incan style raft and sailing it from Peru to Polynesia in 1945 just to prove a point; That polynesia could have been originally settled by indigenous south americans, rather than asians. This book inspires you to do something crazy and huge, and makes you realize that its possible to do anything if youre committed

Has anyone heard of Evasion (published by Crimethinc and author Anonymous)? Great book with interesting history about living the life of a travelling hobo in america, hopping trains, dumpster diving, and stealing from grocery stores. The only annoying part is the straigh edge veganism, a philosophy I personally cannot embrace. Other than that, I highly recommend it!
