French Foreign legion

Do I get vacation time over the holidays in the french foreign legion?

I need to know because I guess I will join it if I get at least a few weeks paid vacation time


Other travelers need to know because they need backup plans too.

45 leave days a year. Asthmatic ... they have non soldier personel; nurses, techs, mechanics, communications, etc. But, you have to sign a 5 year term. Imagine you would also have to learn French. Have to sign up in France. I think the training is all in France as well. But some of the service areas- if you are lucky- are in vacation paradises. I have met a few folks who had been with the Legion but they all were a bit mum on the details.

You can join anywhere theoretically, being the FOREIGN legion and all...all the frenchies in there just lie about their citizenship. It also means you don't have to walk in being fluent.

45 leave days is enough, so cool. I think someone even wrote a guide as to how to desert it

I saw a documentary on it recently. The entrance is very gruelling. There are also psychological assessments to judge your committment. Anyone can join as long as you are not being looked for by the police with a warrant. After 5 years you can become a french citizen. At the moment most recruits are East Europeans.

It didn't look like a holiday camp - the sergeant was explaining that during the training the recruits learn that nothing is impossible and that pain brings joy!

You get a new name when you join.

Are you sure that they have not been through the same gruelling traiing and tests prior to specialisation?

Anyway - you have to sign up to the loyalty thing - that came out very strong - the legion must be your life and you must be ready to die for it.

As for your asthma - the sergents will probably try to persuade you during the training that you don't have any - otherwise they will declare you unsuitable.

The Legion isn't something to be considered on a whim.

The training is among the toughest there is in the world. The fact that you mentioned a guide on how to desert it tells me that you wouldn't make it as a Legionnaire.

Just concentrate on traveling the world without commitment!

Hello, Going to keep it simple, If i have unspent community service hours can i join the french foreign legion? It was a common assault charge, got fined and have been doing hours but im sick of doing this for the wrong reasons. please e-mail me... markcode11@hotmail.com
