The Girl Who Played Go by Shan Sa. Set in Manchuria during the Japanese invasion. Very sharp.

A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary For Lovers by Xialou Guo. I found the protagonist very charming. "Why do I have to learn English? I am no caring whether I am speaking English or not"

Just finished A Fortune-Teller and enjoyed it greatly. Terzani had some interesting insights and perspectives.

Hitchhiking Hokkaido Blues by Will Ferguson (I think). An English teacher travels the length of Japan meeting plenty of characters en route.

The Blue-Eyed Salaryman gives you some idea what it's like to work in corporate Japan. You have to laugh otherwise you'd cry.

Hey, You want good novel then "The Real Dragon: A Novel of Vietnam" is good novel which has written by Lousia Hagner Trigg. Read this novel , it really give you good knowledge and ideas related to ancient dragon and its culture.
