So im heading out in 2 days.

have everything sorted out, paper work, euros, passport, and a visa.

I was wondering what most people use to hide there money, i made a neckless one that holds passport and i also got a belt thing that goes under your pants, was just wondering what you guys use that works the best, on not losing money and not getting it jacked.

i had this really nice backpack for hiking, but ive heard so many things that can go wrong with these big backpacks, with the straps and airlines, to many pockets losing stuff. So i just got a medium sized duffel bag, that can go on your shoulders too. I think im going to like this a lot more.

Going alone, from here Anchorage Alaska to Seattle to Newark to Athens to Crete.

Wish me luck, and any tips would be awesome.
I think as far as keeping your money safe, the belt thing is the way to go. My friend from Brazil wears one, and if her money is safe in Brazil, yours should be in Europe. It's funny though, she still wears it here in Aspen, Colorado where there is virtually no crime at all.
The under the pants belt thing has always been good enough for me - as long as you're not flaunting your money or being obvious about where you keep it, you'll be fine! Happy travels.
I had an actual belt made in mexico with a zip inside it where i can hide money folded up, no one thinks to look there.

But i haven't been mugged in 14 years on the road so don't worry too much. Most crime is opportunist when you leave bags unattended like on thai buses to the beach...
yea i have a belt like that too where i always keep a few bills just in case. got mine at a store in small town Ontario though.

when i travel i keep most of my money and my passport in a money belt tho.

once in peru i left my backpack with the girl with whom i was traveling in the bus station while i went outside to take i leak. i came back and she was breaking down telling me that someone had stolen it. so i ran up and down the street like an idiot trying to find the guy not knowing what i'd do if i did haha that would have been interesting.. i probably would of been stabbed or something.

anyways what had happened was that a small child tugged at her pant leg and held up a small set of keys as if she'd dropped them. so she momentarily let go of the backpack to inspect these keys while another person very stealthily switched the backpack with a decoy empty one. she didnt even notice until they were both gone and that cost us about 700 dollars cash, an ipod, a camera, notebook, etc..

so now i wear a money belt! so yea just keep your eyes open for scams like that. especially in bus stops and other busy places.
