So I tried to learn more about this situation. I spent a couple hours searching the web and was unable to find any mention of this Lonely Planet end of publishing. Not even on the BBC's own site (since they bought LP).

I'm not questioning your article,,, but I would appreciate any sources you can give as I would like to learn more about this.
You may be joking - but just in case - did you read the article? Did you check the date it came out.......?

Last year Jim killed Pico Iyer.
I've just been into town to look for a new guidebook for me and Mrs 2pint's upcoming trip to Amsterdam and it got me thinking. I've only ever used a Lonely Planet book since I started holidaying when I was 18 and have never used a RG.
So, do people on here tend to prefer one or the other, or both?
If so, which one?
