It's midnight and I'm a little tired of packing, stepping on my scale, unpacking, and then repacking, etc... and so am taking a break/procrastinating by jumping on here for the first time (having lurked in the past) and announcing my destination.

Ghana for three weeks, as of tomorrow... with 100 lbs of charity that I'm beginning to slightly regret offering to bring. I'm pretty sure my luggage is going to end up weighing more than me. If anyone is willing to show up in Accra and help lug two suitcases filled with shoes and art supplies - meet me there, 6 pm sharp! Wink
A friend of mine went to Ghana a few weeks ago and loved it. He said the children are wonderful and bright and he said he wanted to take them all home with him. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time as well.

And welcome to the board.
It is fantastic and the kids are great. No more complaints about heavy suitcases - I'm pretty happy I brought the stuff we are using. I'm working with a group ranging in age from 6 - 14; we're making paper with native plants, and they are beyond wonderful - really eager to help, ready to learn, and just fun. We went to the beach today and built sandcastles. I was a bit worried that I woke up today with the beginnings of pinkeye - so hopefully that clears up! We shall see. Any home remedies would be welcomed, but I'm stopping by the pharmacy tomorrow if it doesn't seem better. Haven't done too much touristy stuff yet - may be hitting up Markola market this week though. And the food is fantastic!

Thanks for the welcome.

Above is a blog that my friend wrote while he was in Ghana. There are some photos of different places he and his group visited, in case you're interested.

Take care of that eye.
